It's so easy to start your very own Scoubidou design. First of all, you'll need a packet of Scoubiou Originals: To start your very own Scoubidou creation, just check out the pictures below and follow these simple instructions:

GETTING STARTED
1. Take a Scoubidou string and tie a flat knot around a pen or pencil. Make sure both ends are equal in length.
2. Then take another strand and place it under the knot, again make sure this strand is equal in length.
3. Now take the strands from the first knotted string (yellow) and make two loops on either side of the original knot. Feed the two ends of the other strings over the open end of nearest string and through the loop of the next string. Pull the strings firmly and evenly.
4. You should end up with a tight knot and four strings in diagonally opposite directions. Now you make a square or a round knot Scoubidou (instructions below). Remove the pen or pencil and get Scoubidouing!

BASIC SQUARE KNOT
1. To knot in a square you make loops with the strands in the opposite direction to your knot. With strand 1 make a loop towards the front side of the knot and with strand 2 make a loop towards the back of the knot.
2. Strand 4 goes over the end of strand 2 through the loop of strand 1. With strand 3 you go over the open end of strand 1 and through the loop of strand 2.
3. Tighten the strands and the first knot is ready.
4. Continue making loops this way and you'll soon have a Scoubi ready to use.

5. When you've finished your creation, tie the last two knots a little tighter than the others and you will be able to cut the strings. If you're worried they'll come loose just use a spot of glue to fasten the end together.

BASIC ROUND KNOT

1. With the four strands make a diagonal loop down from right to left, so that strand 4 is on the other side of strand 3. With strand 3 make a loop diagonally up from left to the right, so that strand 3 is on the other side of strand.
2. Pass strand 1 over the open end of strand 3 and through the loop of strand 4. With strand 2 go over the open end of strand 4 passing through the loop of strand 3.

3. Now tighten the strands evenly and a square will appear.

4. Keep knotting like this until you have a Scoubi ready to use.

5. When you've finished your creation, tie the last two knots a little tighter than the others and you will be able to cut the strings. If you're worried they'll come loose just use a spot of glue to fasten the end together.
